2008 Choreographers

The 2008 DanceBreak choreographers were presented to an large audience of industry members and, of course, friends and family at the New World Stages in NYC on February 11, 2008. Here are their short bios and a few photographs from the performance. More detailed information on each choreographer is on separate pages. See the links below.

We want to thank Casey Nicholaw and Andy Blankenbeuhler for taking time off from their very busy schedules to give "curtain speeches" before the performances. Both are DanceBreak Alumni and spoke of the great service DB did for them and for all aspiring choreographers. A letter from Josh Prince, DB 2007, was also read. See "News" column to the left.

Amy Hall

Choreography credits include: Law & Order: Trial by Jury (NBC), Kidz Bop Live! (QVC), Chappelles' Show asst. (Comedy Central), Break Free (The Ailey School), Stars of Ballet & Broadway (Detroit Music Hall), the Elan Awards, and DRA: Solstice in Times Square. Performing credits include: (Broadway/Nat'l Tours) Fosse; Contact; Thou Shalt Not; Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life. Also House of Flowers (Encores!), The Radio City Christmas Spectacular (Rockette), and A Christmas Carol (MSG). Amy is a graduate of The Juilliard School. Last but not least she would like to thank everyone here who maybe inspired by her work and courageous enough to give her a chance to use her creative power.

Lorin Latarro

has written and choreographed four Opening Numbers for Gypsy of the Year and Easter Bonnet. Also NBC’s Clash of the Choirs (Ass't Chor.), PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center’s Hansel and Gretel, David Letterman, Twix Commercial and You’re The One That I Want(assistant choreo.). Lorin choreographed Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, The Magic Flute and Love of Three Oranges, Juilliard Opera Company, Broadway Bares, BMW’s X5 in Japan, Austria, and Detroit. Associate Choreographer: All Singin’ All Dancin’ - Town Hall, MOMIX, West Side Story-San Jose Music Theater, Olympic Opening Ceremony, Where’s Charlie?, Party Come Here- Williamstown, John Kander Tribute, Ballet Hispanico. Lorin has performed in Curtains, Movin’ Out, Chorus Line, Apple Tree, Spamalot, Man of La Mancha, Kiss Me Kate, Wonderful Town, Fosse, Swing!, Martha Graham, MOMIX. The Juilliard School- BFA.

Josh Rhodes

was the assistant choreographer for the original Broadway production of The Drowsy Chaperone. He held the same title for the West End production and the current national tour as well. Other productions with Casey Nicholaw include Follies (Encores), South Pacific (Carnegie Hall, PBS), and Tin Pan Alley Rag (Roundabout) Recently, Josh choreographed Chess and Dreamgirls at the North Carolina Theatre. Josh has choreographed many opening numbers for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids events with his longtime collaborator Lorin Latarro. Josh performed in seven Broadway shows and was fortunate enough to work closely and learn from many amazing directors and choreographers.

John Selya

"*AEC seeks long lasting working relationship with numerous creative partners. I am presently flush with cash after being awarded a commissioning grant by the Joyce Theater in New York City . Have partnered and been partnered before (Movin’ Out – Tony nomination; Times They Are-A Changin’). Looking to expand my horizons. I am no commitment-phobe having enjoyed creating works for companies such as ABT, Houston and Sacramento Ballets. Adventurousness, responsibility and dedication is a must. Wendy Seyb

Shea Sullivan

Choreographer credits include: Bernice Bobs Her Mullet (NYMF), I Got Love (Laurie Beechman), Dancing on a Dream (Duke on 42nd Street Theater), Get Lifted featuring John Legend and the NY Knicks Dancers, Pali Poker III featuring members of the Radio City Rockettes. Regional: Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, Babes in Arms, Anything Goes, Bye Bye Birdie, Thoroughly Modern Millie. TV: Tap Mania (WB 11), Real Simple Life (PBS), The Peep Show (Pilot).
