Short bios and personal interviews with the '07 choreographers.

DanceBreak 2007 was presented at New World Stages in New York City on February 12, 2007.

The choreographers were Kelly Devine, Linda Goodrich, Stas Kmiec, C.J. Phillip, Josh Prince and Paul Stancato.

Kelly Devine:

Kelly has worked with such prominent directors and choreographers such as Des McAnuff, Sergio Trujillo, Nora Ephron, Michael Peters and Debbie Allen to name a few. Some of her theatre credits include: Zhivago (workshop), Private Fittings at La Jolla Playhouse, both under the direction of Des McAnuff; Sneaux! (2003 LA Weekly Award, Best Choreography) directed by Andy Fickman; Encounters: A New Dance Play (El Portal Theater); 12th Premise; 40 days and Ann E. Wrecksick (Ars Nova) directed by Kristin Hanggi. Kelly has also been the Associate Choreographer on both the Broadway and first National Tour of Jersey Boys. Films include Happy, Texas; 30 Days Til I'm Famous; BoyChick and Zombie Prom.

Linda Goodrich:

credits include BatBoy and Smokey Joe's Cafe at Theaterworks (awards for Excellence in direction and choreography); Seussical! - Music Theatre of Wichita; Jesus Christ Superstar, Side Show, Oklahoma and Cabaret - Univ. of Mich. Choreographic : world premieres of Henry Krieger’s and Bill Russell’s Everything's Ducky, the revised Goodnews! Tours: Cabaret – Europe, Singin' In The rain – U.S. and Japan, Blue's Clues Live, and Dora The Explorer – U.S., including Radio City Music Hall. Regional Theatre: Company with Carol Burnett – Long Beach CLO, Strike Up The Band – Goodspeed Opera House, Singin' In The Rain? and Annie– Paper Mill Playhouse. Other Theatres: Cincinnati Playhouse, St. Louis Rep, North Shore Music Theatre, and TUTS.

Stas' Kmiec'

Born in Massachusetts, Staś is a graduate of Tufts University (BA) and The University of Marie Curie-Sklodowska in Lublin, Poland (BA, MA); danced with Boston Ballet and Metropolitan Opera Ballet; toured and Broadway with Rudolf Nureyev; was a featured performer in Lee Theodore’s American Dancemachine; and two national tours of Fiddler on the Roof. He is the founding Artistic Director/Choreographer of the Sarabande Repertory Dance Ensemble and The Lublin Ensemble. Staś choreographs in a variety of styles: theaterdance, ballet, character/folk, period/historical, social/ballroom. His choreography has been seen in Off-Broadway: La Mama E.T.C.; regionally: Gateway Playhouse; tour: Me and My Girl; Irish premiere: Best Little Whorehouse; and film: Billy Crudup’s moves in Trust the Man.

C.J Phillip

began her professional career as a singer/dancer performing on Broadway and in tours like Dreamgirls (Tour), Big, the Musical (Broadway) Street Corner Symphony (Broadway) and Hairspray (Broadway) where she was a Dance Captain for the touring and Broadway companies. CJay has produced and choreographed hundreds of events in arenas across the country. She’s directed music videos and live concerts for Pop, R&B and Hip hop artists. Some musical theatre credits include choreographing productions of Once On This Island, The Who’s Tommy, Your Arms To Short To Box With God, Once Upon A Mattress, The History of Gospel Music and The Story Tree Gang. She’s currently commissioned to direct and choreograph a new hip hop version of Carmen in Zurich Switzerland.

Josh Prince

Paul Stancato

Resident Director for the national tour of The Lion King. Assisted Rob Ashford on the Broadway musical The Wedding Singer. Performing credits include Blue Man Group and De La Guarda in New York. Directing/choreographing credits include; Crazy For You, Guys and Dolls, Godspell and the world premier of The Heart Rising. Awarded ‘Best Direction’ for his New York Fringe Festival production of Einstein’s Dreams. Associate member of SSDC, a member of the Lincoln Center’s Directing Lab and was an adjunct theatre professor at Marymount Manhattan College.
