Rob Ashford
On Broadway, choreography credits include: Thoroughly Modern Mille (Tony Award), The wedding Singer (Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations), Curtains (Tony Award nomination), and Cry Baby ( Tony Award nomination, Drama Desk Award, Fred Astaire Award, Outer Critics Circle Award) and Promises, Promises (Tony Award nomination, Outer Critics Circle Award Nomination.)
In London Ashford has choreographed: Thoroughly MOdern Millie ( Olivier Award nomination), Guys and Dolls (Olivier Award nomination), Evita ( Olivier Award nomination), Candide at The English National Opera ( with subsequent productions at La Scala, Milan and Theatre Chatelet in Paris), and Parade at The Donmar Warehouse for which he received Olivier Award nominations for both Direction and Choreography.
He choregraphed the film BEYOND THE SEA directed by and starring Kevin Spacey. He also collaborated with Baz Luhrmann on a production number for The Academy Awards with Hugh Jackman and Beyonce and staged the opening number for the 63rd Annual Tony Awards.
Upcoming projects include directing A Streetcar Named Desire at London's Donmar Warehouse, a transfer of Parade to the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, Finding Neverland, Leap Of Faith and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying...opening on Broadway in Feb 2011.
Along with serving on the DanceBreak Board, Ashford is on the executive committee for The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and The Board of Trustees of The Joyce Theatre.
