Jerry Mitchell
JERRY MITCHELL (Choreographer) won the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards in 2005 for his work on La Cage Aux Folles. He received Tony, Drama Desk and Astaire Award nominations for choreographing Hairspray, The Full Monty and Never Gonna Dance.
He also choreographed the Broadway productions of Gypsy (starring Bernadette Peters), Imaginary Friends, The Rocky Horror Show (Drama Desk nomination) and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Other choreographic credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Jeffrey (original Off-Broadway productions and films), the national tour of Jekyll & Hyde, the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Follies and for TV, “The Drew Carey Show” (Emmy nomination) and many dances for “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” Jerry’s memorable film work includes "In & Out," "Camp," "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and "Scent of a Woman." Jerry conceived and continues to direct and choreograph "Broadway Bares" annually for the charity Broadway Cares. He will direct and choreograph the upcoming musical Legally Blonde.
