Before creating DanceBreak, Melinda Atwood was a professional dancer, a choreographer, a producer, a director, a philanthropist, an author and Jake’s mother. She is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and has served on the board of directors for the Self Family Arts Center, Juggernaut Theater Company, The Elizabeth Foundation and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, where she served as vice president for four years. She also currently sits on the board of the New York Music Festival.
Walter Bobbie
Walter Bobbie directed the international hit CHICAGO which won him the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award and has become the longest-running revival in Broadway history.
Marge Champion
Successors to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Marge and Gower Champion were legendary in the 50's for their ballroom dancing in night clubs, television and MGM musicals. Born in Hollywood, Marge grew up in the center of the dance and movie world. Her father Ernest Belcher was the Dean of the West Coast dancing masters and staged many dance sequences for the movies. He trained Shirley Temple, Cyd Charisse, Gwen Verdon...and Marge.
Stephen Flaherty
STEPHEN FLAHERTY has composed music for Broadway, film and the concert hall. His film credits includes: ANASTSIA (two Academy Award nominations for Best Score and Best Song, two Golden Globe nominations and a gold record for its soundtrack, Twentieth Century Fox), Bartok the Magnificent (original score and original songs, Twentieth Century Fox video), SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK (ABC), AFTER THE STORM (documentary, current) and several developments for Disney and Paramount.
Edie Cowan
Edie Cowan began her career in the theatre as a performer appearing in the original companies of three Broadway musicals: FUNNY GIRL, SHERRY! and ANNIE. She played featured roles in three national tours: Lily St. Regis in ANNIE opposite Jane Connell, Young Phyllis in FOLLIES opposite Vivian Blaine, and Josie Cohan in GEORGE M! opposite Darryl Hickman. Regional productions include leading roles in REDHEAD, BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE, DAMES AT SEA, BLOOMER GIRL and THE BOYFRIEND.
Jerry Mitchell
JERRY MITCHELL (Choreographer) won the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards in 2005 for his work on La Cage Aux Folles. He received Tony, Drama Desk and Astaire Award nominations for choreographing Hairspray, The Full Monty and Never Gonna Dance.
