DanceBreak is teaming up with the Lincoln Center Directors Lab to delve into the collaborative process between directors and choregraphers.
Lincoln Center's famed Directors Lab has asked DanceBreak to create a workshop on August 8th, to address in greater depth some of the issues that arise in the collaboration between choreographers and directors.
Over 60 young directors will team up with DanceBreak Alumni to talk about the process, the communication skills needed, and some of the pitfalls of working together.
The workshop will begin with a chance to hear how some of the more successful collaborations have evolved, with Andy Blankenbeuhler/Tommy Kail of In The Heights and Matt Williams/ Scott Schwartz of Rooms currently on the roster to discuss their collaborations. Following that, there will be some "on your feet" experiences. The directors will get a chance to not only work with a choreographer, but to also be "the dancers" in the chosen scenes.
DanceBreak is thrilled to be participating in this very illustrious workshop at Lincoln Center.
